Attention Passenger!

I am almost 39 weeks & the baby is transverse (sideways) with her back to my cervix. I'm supposed to be induced this week so I know when to stop taking my shots/bloodthinners, but the baby's position complicates things a bit.

So we've prepared the following announcement for her:

ATTENTION PASSENGER! In anticipation of you imminent ejection, please take a moment to locate your nearest exit. In this case, it is behind you.
Please move towards that exit. Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated.

We've had a fun winter-

building and EATING snow forts.

But we are glad it's spring!

Miss H broke her clavicle, but has been such a trooper & likes her dinosaur sling.


My MIL helped me finish this quilt. I have a few more projects for that room b/f the baby comes next month! Happy Spring!

This year

Projects on my list for the year:Miss H got a bed for Christmas (child-sized matress from IKEA. It's longer than a toddler bed but takes up less space than a twin... brilliant idea IKEA). Her daddy built the frame. (This is the 2nd space-saving kid bed he's made.) I've started making a quilt to fit. I'd like to finish that & decorate the room b/f her sister joins us.

Finish potty training the lil' stinker. We sorta took a hiatus from that during the hectic holidays, but he's made such progress this week. It's cute how proud he is to be a BIG boy! I guess he soon will be neither lil' nor stinky.

Have a healthy baby. We are glad things are looking good with this pregnancy & relieved to have passed viability, but mindful of the fact that just because things look fine now doesn't mean there's no need to worry. 2 years ago on MLK day I delivered James. I made a cake to celebrate our love for him. He & Hope remind us how precious & fragile life is. We miss them.

Learn American Sign Language. A friend at church is deaf & there is only one person able to translate in our congregation. I'm her "visiting teacher" so I'm learning to sign so I can communicate with her better & fill in for the interpreter when needed. Last Sunday I signed the sacrament hymn & prayers. I was SO SLOW that I was still translating the prayer when the deacon came to give us the bread. You could sense his dilemma ("Do I move on or KEEP waiting on this lady?") Agh. I'll get better. I am enjoying it, though.

White Christmas

Today we had sunshine & snow... what a fun combination!


Kids went sledding, built a snowman, & made snow angels.

More snow is supposed to be on the way b/f Christmas.

Short & Sweet

I'm thinking of keeping the Christmas letter short & sweet this year. Something along the lines of...

Babydue in 4 months!
D (8) was baptized. Miss H (5) loves Kindergarten. Our lil'Stinker (3) keeps us smiling! Hope you’ve had many sweet moments as well. We wish you joy as we remember the birth & life of our Savior.

(Sooo... just in case the month gets away from me b/f making & mailing them, now you know what it WOULD have looked like. And we DO hope you have a Merry Christmas!)

Big 3 year old!

3 Things we Love about this cute little man...
1-He's so affectionate. He's always willing to give a hug or a kiss.

2-He's very articulate. All our kids are verbal, but he amazes people with the thoughts he shares. He's rather methodical- almost reminds you of Churchill...

3-He has a great imagination. He pretends he's a hockey player, a race car, "master yoda", etc. It's fun to watch or listen to him play.


We're glad he had a happy 3rd b-day! We can't believe how fast he's grown!

Our house this fall

Here are a few things I'm proud of this fall...

My garden! Having a garden was one of the things I was most excited for with the new house. We build a couple raised beds, but you can only really see the bed from the angle below b/c it grew well beyond the borders.

Miss H helped me decorate our table for fall. She even wrote placecards. (Usually I'm not a fan of our red/orange/yellow lamps, but they actually fit the autumn theme right now.)

And it's hard not to be proud when you are gaining weight- if it's for a good cause...
